Calling themselves 100 Women with Heart, a group of women have opened a Northumberland Chapter of 100 Women Who Care!  If you Google Women Who Care, you get a long list of web sites of similar groups, mostly in Canada although there are a large number in the U.S. as well.  There are also a few in other countries.  The idea is that at quarterly meetings, each member donates $50 then votes on who gets the combined donation.  One hour (for the meeting) and $50 every three months and there is a powerful contribution to needy Northumberland charities.

women with heart logoSo far the Northumberland chapter has contributed $6800 each to 3 charities:  SONG, Cornerstone and Bridge Hospice in Warkworth.  Although the goal is 100 per chapter, larger or smaller groups are OK – the main idea is to pool donations to a single charity every 3 months.

The next meeting of 100 Women with Heart is on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the Masonic Lodge Hall, 54 Toronto Rd,  Port Hope.
Agenda is:

  • 6:30 pm Registration
  • 7pm Charity Presentations
  • 7:30pm Grant Votes
  • 8pm Adjournment

There’s more at their web page here.

If you feel left out (e.g. you are not a woman!), you can form a chapter for men or just people!  There’s more at the web site: 100 Who Care Alliance
