The Town of Cobourg, Northumberland County and other organizations in Cobourg have Surveys from time to time.  There's a list here.

So the Cobourg Police would like a new facility. Considering that its present headquarters is a century old, that is a reasonable request. But the $34.5 million price tag is certainly going to cause some controversy!

For a mere $9 million Brookside Youth Centre could become a Cobourg property. Situated on thirty acres and comprising both green space and fourteen buildings, might it be the answer to our policing needs?

Offices, interrogation rooms, holding cells, etc. could be built. Some of the buildings could be converted to low rental housing. The income generated could offset some of the cost of renovations, modifications and upgrades.

But forget about the firing range. Constructing it would be a waste of between $5 and $8 million!! There are several places in Northumberland where officers can practise their shooting.

The town buying Brookside sounds like a win-win situation. The only objectors are those who cannot think outside the box!
