Residents are able to put out leaf and yard waste for curbside collection. Leaf and yard waste collection is part of a plan to reach a long-term goal of 75% diversion from local landfills.

Northumberland County provides a monthly pick up of leaf & yard waste right at your curb on a routine schedule, from Mid-April to Mid-December.

Please have your brush, leaves and grass clippings out at the curb by no later than 7 am on the MONDAY of your designated set-out week, not on your garbage/recycling collection day. It will be collected between Monday and Friday of your designated set-out week, not necessarily on the set-out date.

Leaf and yard waste needs to be in kraft paper bags and brush needs to be bundled. Each bundle must be tied, no longer than 3 ft, contain no materials larger than 2” in diameter and weigh less than 40 lbs. There is no limit to the quantity of leaf & yard waste that residents can place out for collection. Trees and limbs that exceed 3 feet in length and are greater than 2” in diameter, need to be disposed of at one of the County Waste Disposal Facilities.
