On-Demand Service
Effective June 14, 2021, on-demand is available to all riders for all operating hours. Booking is via an app, by phone or online – details below.

Full On-Demand Service for WHEELS Members and All Riders
The Cobourg Rides on-demand service is now fully implemented across both WHEELS and Conventional Transit during the following regular hours:
All Riders Including WHEELS:
- Monday to Friday: 6:15 am to 10 pm
- Saturday: 8:15 am to 6:45 pm
- Sunday: 8:45 am to 3:45 pm
Booking
You can book a ride up to three-weeks in advance in three easy ways:
- Download the "Pick-Up On-Demand" App – see below
- Book Online - (At Rideco) Your first task will be to register
- Call 905-373-0582
This is how the online process and the app work (click graphic to enlarge).
As an option, you can also pay online or via the app.
Download the app - search for "Pick-up on Demand" it's by Rideco and a distinctive pink. Then Register. When asked for a phone number, provide your cell number because they will send a text to it to confirm your registration.
Or, if you prefer, in your phone, go to App Store (or Google Play Store) and search for "pickup on demand" and choose the pink coloured app by Rideco.
If you're a first-time user, you'll need to create an account.
The app includes tracking of the bus so you know where your ride is.
Telephone
Call 905-373-0582 to book an on-demand ride over the phone. The hours of operation to use the phone booking service are:
- Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Saturday 8:15 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.
- Sunday 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Note that the example of use in the video is not Cobourg so some details may differ.
The trial continued for the rest of 2021 and into 2022. It brings improved service but at significantly reduced cost. This is partly because the improved service is expected to increase ridership so fare revenue would be higher.

Cobourg Transit Smart Card Passes
Cobourg Transit users who would like to pay their fares in advance or utilize the convenience of contactless payment now have the option to purchase a reloadable Smart Card. (Town's Smart Card page is here).

First Card Online Purchases
Customers that purchase their first smart card online have the following options for obtaining their pass:
- Regular Mail – no charge for regular mail
- Courier – courier rates apply ($5.10 within Cobourg)
- Pick-up – Victoria Hall, Finance Office at 55 King Street West

10 Ride and 20 Ride Passes

*There is an additional $5 charge for the first card purchased. The 10 Ride and 20 Ride Passes can be reloaded on board Cobourg Transit by placing the appropriate funds in the farebox.
Renewing or Reloading Your Card
Subsequent passes (after the first card purchase) will be loaded on the customers’ existing card and can be purchased through one of the following methods:

Where's My Bus
To see where your Bus is, go to the app and when you have ordered a ride, you can see where it is. Location details are visible on the app only when the vehicle is enroute to your location. You can track the vehicle in real-time on the map when it’s nearer to your pick-up time.
Days without service
These notes are updated as they change - see date at top of page for latest update date.
The Transit bus (and Wheels service) does not run on the following days: New Year's Day, Family Day, Easter Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, August Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Monday, Christmas Day.
Hours on Christmas Eve and New years Eve will be 6:15 am to 3:00 pm
Hours on Boxing Day: 8:45 am to 3:45 pm
Port Hope Shuttle
The bus from Port Hope arrives every half hour at 10 minutes and 40 minutes past the hour at Northumberland Mall. The Shuttle fare is $2.00. You can transfer to a Cobourg bus for $1.00 or ride the Port Hope bus to the Hospital (:14 & :44) or WalMart (:15 & :45) - bus then goes back to Port Hope. Port Hope riders can get on the shuttle at Port Hope Town Hall (56 Queen Street) on the half hour and hour during business hours. For more info call 905-885-2431
Shuttle Schedule
Monday - Friday At the Mall every half hour 10 & 40 minutes past the hour from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (last shuttle - 7:40 p.m.).
Saturday At the Mall every half hour 10 & 40 minutes past the hour from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (last shuttle - 3:40 p.m.).
No Shuttle Service on Sundays or Statutory Holidays.
Wheels
This service is replaced by the On-Demand Service. All buses are fully accessible.

Airport Service
A daily shuttle to Toronto Airport is provided by MegaBus. Their prices are $35 each way and you pick them up at Harveys in Port Hope off Hwy 28 just north of the 401. They leave Port Hope daily at 2:30pm and 5:30pm and the time elapsed is 1hr 30m. You must book online here. Only one large checked bag is allowed. Return times from Pearson are 12:00 noon, 6:30 pm and 9:00 pm. Return elapsed time is also 1hr 30m. More info at their web site.
